Fearless Readers is an approved Texas Education Freedom Account (TEFA) provider. We deliver one-on-one virtual dyslexia and math intervention to Texas children ages 6 and up, taught by specialists. Apply your TEFA funds directly through the Odyssey Marketplace.
The Texas Education Freedom Account is Texas's education savings account program, administered by the state and delivered through the Odyssey Marketplace. Approved Texas families use TEFA funds to pay for tutoring, intervention, curriculum, therapy, and other qualified educational expenses — including structured-literacy intervention for dyslexia and multisensory math intervention for kids who struggle.
Funds are paid directly from your TEFA wallet to the approved provider through Odyssey. No reimbursement paperwork. No out-of-pocket cost for eligible expenses.
If you're searching for "dyslexia tutoring" or a "math tutor" who accepts TEFA — you're in the right place. What we provide is more focused than typical tutoring: structured-literacy intervention from specialists, and multisensory math intervention using the Math-U-See method. Both are evidence-based approaches designed specifically for children who learn differently.
Most parents call it "dyslexia tutoring." We call it intervention — because what your child needs isn't extra homework help. It's a different way of being taught.
Approved for TEFA funding? Here's the step-by-step for applying your TEFA wallet toward Fearless Readers intervention — from your first email to your child's first session.

Every new student starts with a baseline assessment — it's how we pinpoint your child's needs and match them to the right program and coach. Log in to Odyssey, open your student's wallet, choose Shop Marketplace, and search “Fearless Readers” under Tutoring. Purchase the Getting Started — New Student Baseline Assessment ($250). Enrolling in more than one program? You'll buy one assessment per program — each program begins with its own tailored evaluation.
Per Odyssey's TEFA Program Timeline, TEFA funds drop in your Odyssey wallet on a set schedule.
We're not a single-program tutor. Every student begins with a reading or math assessment, so we can see exactly where your child is strong, where the gaps are, and how they learn best — then match them with the program and the coach that fit.
Our flagship Orton-Gillingham program — a full, structured, multi-year path for students with dyslexia who need to build from the ground up.
Explicit, systematic phonics. A strong fit for early readers and for older students rebuilding their foundational skills.
Evidence-based literacy instruction that builds reading, spelling, and writing together — another tool we match to the right student.
Multi-sensory math that builds true understanding — not just memorized steps — for students who struggle to keep up.
We're not tutors who help with homework. We're specialists trained in proven, research-backed programs designed specifically for kids who haven't succeeded with traditional instruction. Research consistently shows that explicit, systematic instruction in phonological awareness, decoding, and language structure is the most effective approach for children with dyslexia.
"Fearless Readers has been such a blessing to our daughter and family. We have been having sessions twice weekly for about a year and a half. She made a 168% improvement on her latest standardized benchmark assessment compared to results prior to our tutoring sessions. At her latest ARD meeting at school, she surpassed her goals on her IEP over the last year."

No. In Texas, charter schools are considered public schools — a child cannot be enrolled full-time in either a public school or an open-enrollment charter school during the school year they use TEFA funds. Charter-enrolled students may apply, but if accepted, they need to withdraw from the charter school before drawing on the funds. Source: Texas Comptroller — Education Freedom Account FAQ
